Prayer is at the heart of our walk with God. Jesus taught it, the Early Church relied on it and for centuries, Christians have found peace through it. God wants us to talk, cry, discuss and wrestle with Him through prayer. What’s incredible is that he promises that He will move in the hearts and lives of people as we pray.
There is benefit both to learning to pray alone and to praying with other Christians. The links below will help you to grow in this fundamental principle of the Christian faith and to go deeper with God.
Morning Prayer
Every month we gather together in the morning to pray for our city and our church. This runs on the first Tuesday of every month from 7-8am at our church building. Not everyone will be able to make it at this time, but it hopefully gives people the chance to still get to the rest of their day from 8am. We'd love you to come and be part of it!
Month of Prayer
At the outset of every new year we set aside a month to pray as a church. We know how easy it can be to come into the year and quickly get sucked into unrealistic expectations and pressure from the world around us, so we prioritise spending time together and in our homes praying and trusting God with everything the year holds. The month includes things like a daily prayer plan, prayer gatherings for the church and other prayer events. You can see last year's booklet, which includes the daily prayer plan, here.
Week of Prayer
As well as our big Month of Prayer in January, twice a year we set aside a week to worship, pray and fast together as a church - we call it Deeper. These weeks always play a huge part in the heartbeat of our church; they shape us and they refresh us. As part of the week we produce resources to help you pray. Here’s the booklet we produced for our last Deeper week to give you a feel for what they're like: click here.
Women’s Prayer Pods
If you’re a woman and would like to pray with a handful of others, prayer pods are a great way to support one another and learn to pray from other women in the church. If you’re interested in becoming part of a prayer pod, please email the office on hello@gracechurchnottingham.org.
Prayer for the Nations
We believe the worldwide church is one big family which is why we gather once a month to pray for Christians around the world. At these gatherings we make it a priority to particularly pray for the persecuted church. To see when the next Prayer for the Nations meeting is, head to our events page.
